May 2008
Becoming familiar with tournament locations can be time consuming and frustrating when you would rather be spending your time researching the fishery and preparing your tackle. Only another tournament angler could know the hassles involved and appreciate what we go through at each event. Susan Wild, an avid angler from St. Petersburg, Florida decided to do something about the situation so that we wouldn’t have to (in her words) re-invent the wheel at every tournament. She has put together a site guide for all WBT tournament anglers – both boaters and non-boaters – for each lake we will be fishing in 2008. Susan has personally visited each lake, stopped at each motel and most campgrounds and taken photos of the boat ramps and included many GPS coordinates in her guides. The Lake Neely Henry Tournament Site Guide is hot off the press – just in time for the next WBT event in Gadsden, Alabama. Surfing the internet can be time consuming and if you are like me, there is not enough time in the day to juggle your family life, work life and angling life. With Susan’s Site Guides, all you have to do is select the subject tab for the information you are looking for and open it up – it’s that simple. Any phone number, address and most GPS coordinates you would need are at your fingertips. I have personally reviewed this Site Guide and find it to be loaded with very helpful information about the businesses that we deal with on a regular basis during pre-fish and tournament week. Susan has been very thorough in her research and the guides will be up-dated every two years. The Site Guides are a “must have” for anyone who fishes these lakes. Susan is currently offering all WBT anglers free standard ground shipping for the Lake Neely Henry and Old Hickory Site Guides. The guides are $19.95 each or you can get the set for $35. To order your copy contact SusanWild@ebassinfo.com. The ebassinfo.com website should be up and running in the near future. Susan Wild purchased the ebassinfo.com domain name approximately 5 years ago. Denese Freeman, graphic designer and WBT angler from Lawton, Oklahoma purchased the domain name ebassfish.com 3 ½ years ago. Neither angler knew each other at the time nor did Denese know about Susan’s website domain name. Both websites are designed to benefit women anglers. The “e” in Susan’s website stands for “electronic”. The “e” in ebassfish.com is actually our mother’s first initial and my sister Denese shares our mother’s first name. Our website was named with our mother’s initial as part of that name and is dedicated to our mother. Although we support and promote Susan and her new Site Guides, we just wanted our readers to know that our sites are not connected in any way except through friendship, our love of fishing and desire to help other women anglers pursue their passion of fishing. (Editors’s Note: My first encounter with Susan Wild was actually a bitter-sweet one for me. We were fishing a WBFA event on Kentucky Lake. They were handing out checks and plaques and announced that Susan Wild had Big Bass in the Co-Anglers division. I kept looking at my weight slip and told my sister that something was wrong, because my bass weighed more. I went behind the weigh-in stage and questioned the tournament director. Sure enough, they had made a mistake and I was suppose to get the check for Big Bass. They had already give Susan the check and the award plaque and she had to give them back so they could give me the award. I felt so bad for her, because I know how I would have felt in the same situation. Susan was a good sport and we laugh about it now. It was another lesson learned for me – always check your weight and match it to your weigh-in slip and pay attention to the scoring. People and machines do make mistakes!)
