Women's
Bassmaster Tour Kicks Off the 2008 Season If the idiom is true “the third time is the charm” then the season opener for the Women’s Bassmaster Tour on Lake Lewisville, Texas will prove to be a very exciting event when approximately 200 women anglers from around the country converge north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex to compete for cash and prizes, April 10 – 12. As 2008 marks the third year of the tour, WBT anglers have already been charmed with the
announcement by BASS and ESPN that Academy Sports and Outdoors will be the presenting
sponsor of the WBT in 2008. The final day weigh-in at each of the 4 events will be held at
an Academy store near the fishery. The final day’s weigh-in in Lewisville will be at the Academy
store location at 2428 S. Stemmons Freeway, Lewisville, Texas. Academy Sports and Outdoors
is one of the nations largest sporting goods retailers with 105 stores in 11 states.
This is the also the third event for the WBT on Lake Lewisville. At the inaugural WBT event
there in 2005, Pam Martin-Wells of Bainbridge, Georgia was the very first pro-angler to win a
WBT event and Sharon Rushton of Missouri was the first co-angler to win. The tour returned
to Lake Lewisville in May of 2006. At that event, Dianna Clark of Bumpus Mills, Tennessee was
the pro-winner and Debbie Pegoli of Loveland, Ohio was the co-winner.
Other sponsors of the Women’s Bassmaster Tour include:
Toyota Tundra, Advance Auto Parts, Lowrance,
Mercury, Skeeter, Yamaha, OPTIMA Batteries, Triton Boats, Legend Boats,
MoGills and Mustang. In Memory of Tiffany Duncan and Sherrie Brubaker
Tiffany Duncan Sherri Brubaker Tiffany Duncan was from Waco, Texas and a member of the Dallas Bass n Gals. She loved life and she loved to fish. She fished the inaugural WBT event on Lake Lewisville in October of 2005. She had just finished her chemo treatments for breast cancer and was looking forward to being a survivor and fishing the 2006 WBT tour. Tiffany passed away in February of 2006 just weeks before the first event and her 36th birthday. Sherri Brubaker was a veteran angler from Warner, Oklahoma and a consistent Top 10 finisher who held many titles and had won 10 bass boats during her career. She started tournament fishing in 1980. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and underwent extensive surgery and treatments before returning to competition in the WBFA in 2005. She fished the first WBT event on Neely Henry in April of 2006 and cashed a check for 19th place. That event was her last tournament. Her cancer returned soon after. Sherri passed away December 2, 2007. Both Tiffany and Sherrie fought hard in their battle against breast cancer. They left behind a legacy of strength and courage. ebassfish would like to dedicate this newsletter to these two talented women anglers.

eBassFish has joined forces with UltimateBass.com and In an effort to expand the promotion of women anglers and their desire to compete and pursue their passion of fishing, ebassfish.com has joined forces with Laurie Cork of Ultimate Bass.com and Jared Pease of The Bass-Holes.com as moderators of the ebassfish forums. By joining the Ultimate Bass and the Bass-Holes community forums, it is the desire of ebassfish.com to gain more recognition for all women anglers through discussions that educate the public and talk about fishing from a woman’s point of view. 33% of all anglers are women and the fishing industry is starting to take notice. We met Laurie Cork, the owner of Ultimate Bass at a WBT tournament on the Red River in Shreveport, LA in September of 2007. After reviewing the Ultimate Bass website and seeing how well the UB Forum Board was visited and monitored, we were convinced that the partnership was a win-win situation for both ebassfish and Ultimate Bass. While covering the Women’s Bassmaster Championship in February at the Classic in Greenville, South Carolina, we were fortunate to meet Jared Pease and staff member Dave of The Bass-Holes. They impressed us with their genuine interest in covering the women anglers fishing the Championship. Everywhere we went, they were there also, taking photos and doing interviews. We offered to exchange links with them and the next thing we knew, they had given us our own forum. We invite the WBT anglers to visit both websites and become members of the forums and help ebassfish spread the word about the WBT and the great ladies who fish itBass Anglers Network
