The Master can
catch fish without doing anything
and teach others without saying a word.
Fish come her way and she embraces them;
fish leave and she lets them go.
The tackle box is like an empty container:
it can never be emptied and can never be filled.
Infinitely deep, it is the source of all wonder.
The more it is used, the less you understand.
It is better
not to speak of things you cannot explain.
The monster is
called the Great Mother
because it gives birth to our dreams.
It is like a vapor,
rarely seen but always lurking.
The Tao of
Fishing is eternal,
and the Angler is long enduring.
They do not live for themselves alone;
thus they are present for all the fans.
If you overly
esteem the champion,
he will become overly competitive.
If you overvalue your talents,
others will begin to copy.
Rod and reel
and fluorocarbon are praised,
but it is the hook
that allows the bass to be tamed.
We work
diligently for the capture,
but the release is what we hold close to our hearts.
Lure colors
blind the eye.
Buzz baits deafen the ear.
Too much fishing deranges the mind.
Too much wishing causes crime.
The Master acts on what she believes
and not on what she hears.
She shuns the latter, and prefers to seek the truth.
The truth is The Tao of Fishing
And Bass Fishing is a Hoot!
