Texas Flood Report
by Helen Gordon |

Guard Shack at Lewisville Lake Park

The Guard Shack at
Lake Lewisville Park that we all drove through everyday to
launch during our May tournament in 2006 is completely flooded
to the entrance. The parking lot, gazebo and swimming pool at
Sneaky Pete's where we had our tournament briefing is completely
flooded. Worse yet, the Weather Channel is predicting North
Texas will have another low pressure system parked over us for
another week that will dump several more inches of rain. One day
recently, we got 4 inches in 2 hours.
Severe wide-spread flooding is occurring. Lake Grapevine, Lake
Lewisville, Lake Lavon, Ray Roberts, Texoma, Lake Worth, and
Lake Whitney among several others are closed due to high water
and safety. At present, they are scheduled to re-open sometime
in August..hopefully. To help put this into prespective, when
the WBT fished Lake Leisville, it was 8 feet low. Currently,
Lake Lewisville is 12 feet high. That is 20 plus feet of water
in a very short time.
Tournaments are being cancelled. You can
only fish from shore if you can find shorline. Anglers have been
catching a few fish in flooded parking lots. Other than that,
lots of water but no safe way to launch and lots and lots of
floating debris, etc.
