When I first heard about the
“BassRoom” in June on my way to
Kentucky Lake, I couldn’t
wait to find out more about it.
The photos and the description
of the “BassRoom” looked and
sounded great. It is one of
those ”why didn’t someone think
of this sooner” type of product.

I was very excited the day mine arrived on
my doorstep by way of UPS. I had already been on the website
www.coveryourbass.com
to learn all I could about how to set it up, make it custom-fit
my boat and how to fold it back down. The website also
recommended that you make the necessary adjustments to customize
it to your boat before you get out on the water. This is a
one-time step and very little effort required. Once done, it is
ready to set in place on your boat in a matter of seconds. The
same is true for taking it back down after use.
I did
all of the above. It took me several attempts to get the hang of
folding it back down, but once I did, it was easy and only took
a few seconds. I think I was most impressed with the amount of
room I had to move around inside the BassRoom. I am not a small
person, so I was concerned that it would be awkward trying to
get in and out of it and move around inside. I was also
impressed with how well the zippers worked around the 2
openings.
When
talking to other anglers about this product, I find that many
are skeptical and think that it would be a hindrance, especially
during a tournament. I totally disagree! It is one of those
products that you may not use often, but when you need it, you
need it. I couldn’t begin to count all the tournaments I have
fished and not been able to concentrate because I needed to use
the bathroom and there was no private place to be found on the
lake. Even when you think you have found a private spot in a
cove or in the middle of a lake, you can be fooled. At a
tournament this year in Alabama, I thought everything was safe
so I proceeded to use the “coffee can” provided by my boater.
When we got back to weigh-in, I found out that her husband had
been watching us fish from a nearby bridge with his binoculars!
We just never know who is watching and by what means. Almost
everyone these days has a camera phone.
Now,
there are no excuses from a family member or friend who doesn’t
want to go out on the lake because there are no bathroom
facilities! It is lightweight, very compact and stores easily.
It is also a great place for your 4-legged friend to crawl under
and stay cool while you fish. Once you see it set up, you will
probably see other uses for the BassRoom, just as I have. Check
it out!
