“Around the Campfire” is Outdoor
Woman Magazine’s reader forum -- an opportunity to share
memorable outdoor experiences with other readers across the
country. Short stories, photos, and poems are welcome.
There are a few rules, though:
Short stories: 500 words or
less about an outdoor adventure you personally experienced and
how it influenced your life. (i.e. gave you confidence, a new
perspective, a new goal, personal accomplishment, etc.) Include
related photos if possible.
Photos: High-resolution
digital photos are preferred, but we can work with good quality
color slides or prints. If you send prints or slides and want
them returned, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope
(SASE).
All types of outdoor photos are
encouraged including landscapes, wildlife, flowers, and hunting
or fishing photos, but they but must be high-quality and in good
taste. If you submit a “kill shot”, please clean the blood off
your animal (and yourself) and place the tongue in its’ mouth.
For all photos, include information
about the subject or activity and the name of person(s) in
photo.
Poems: 200 words or less
about any facet of nature or an outdoor activity.
All submissions must be original
work from amateur writers and photographers. No professional
writers, photographers or reprints, please. Submission
selection will be at the discretion of OWM editors. The best
submission for each issue will receive a purple and gold Outdoor
Woman Magazine baseball cap.
If you, or a woman you know, would
like to share a story, photo or poem with us, please email
aroundthecampfire@outdoorwomanmagazine.com.
Hard-copy submissions can be sent to Outdoor Woman Magazine, PO
Box 65519, Vancouver, WA 98665.
Deadline for the
October/November/December issue is September 1.
